Amazon is all set to enter the Quick Commerce Race, with Zepto and Blinkit.

Amazon is planning to enter India's fast-growing quick commerce market, targeting a launch in early 2025.

This sector, known for rapid delivery of groceries and other essentials, is currently led by companies like BlinkIt and Zepto. Nishant Sardana, who handles smartphones and accessories for Amazon, has been assigned to head this new venture into quick commerce.

This move comes shortly after Flipkart, Amazon's local competitor, started its own quick commerce service called Flipkart Minutes. BigBasket, which is owned by Tata Digital, has also shifted its focus entirely to quick deliveries.

Up to now, Amazon has been offering scheduled grocery deliveries through Amazon Fresh, but its new push into quick commerce is expected to challenge existing leaders such as BlinkIt, Zepto, and Swiggy Instamart.

According to a recent report, BlinkIt, owned by Zomato, is the leading player in the quick commerce market with a 40-45% share. Swiggy Instamart follows with a 20-25% share, while Zepto and BigBasket have 15-20% and 10-15% shares, respectively.

Amazon's quick commerce plans come at a time when Manish Tiwary, who has been the country manager for Amazon India for eight years, is stepping down. He will stay with the company until October, after which Amit Agarwal, the current vice president for India and emerging markets, will take over his role.
